2010 PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
Whistling Straits takes center stage

The focus of The PGA of America has officially shifted to Whistling Straits, as one of the country’s most unmistakable venues hosts the 92nd PGA Championship, Aug. 9-15, 2010.

One year from now, the best players in the world put their skills to the test on the shores of Lake Michigan as the season’s final major returns to Whistling Straits, where in 2004, Vijay Singh captured the Championship in a three-hole playoff.

“It’s hard to believe we are up next,” said championship director Barry Deach. “We are in the process of finalizing new offerings for our fans that will build off the success of 2004, while at the same time, stay on the cutting edge for Championship golf venues. That’s our mission. Golf fans attending the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits will notice several different changes for 2010.”

A few of the enhancements for the next year’s PGA Championship include new on-course corporate hospitality offerings, as well as a creation of the inaugural PGA Town Center at Whistling Straits.

“The concept places merchandise store fronts and restaurants in an intimate town square setting at the entrance to the Championship. The most unique aspect to this concept is that the Town Center is outside the entrance to the course, so the casual or curious golf fan can still enjoy the Town Center without purchasing a ticket,” Deach said.

Other highlights offered for the fans overall Championship experience consist of on-site parking, on-course viewing suites and reserved seating. Double-decker viewing suites will be spread throughout the course and will include lower-level access on a first-come, first-serve basis to Wanamaker ticket holders.

“The enthusiastic fans of Wisconsin love to be close to the action, and the viewing suites will provide fans the perfect opportunity to enjoy world-class hospitality and watch the best golfers in the world play a golf course that will be challenging, but fair,” Deach said. “The reserved grandstand seating is another amenity new to the 2010 Championship experience that can be used in conjunction with an admission ticket and will have fans on the edge of their seats.”
