Titleist made a splash in 2000 when it introduced the Pro V1 golf ball to its PGA Tour staff players. It became an immediate hit with both pros and amateurs – so much so that it has been the No. 1 selling golf ball since 2001, and players using it have also won more than 900 tournaments on professional tours worldwide.
But Titleist has continued its R&D efforts and recently introduced a new and improved generation of Pro V1 golf balls for the 2007 season.
In the fall of 2006, several PGA Tour players put the ball in play, including Davis Love III who won the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro with the Pro V1x the first time he used it in competition. Now, the rest of us have our chance.
Both the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x feature a thin Urethane Elastomer cover which promotes consistent aerodynamics thanks to more complete dimple coverage than any other previous Titleist golf ball. Both versions also offer a new A.I.M. (Alignment Integrated Marking) sidestamp for players who prefer to align their drives and putts.
The latest Pro V1 is a three-piece ball which delivers low spin for exceptional distance off the tee and a slightly higher trajectory. Meanwhile, the Pro V1x is a multi-layer ball with a dual core which promotes extremely low spin and a slightly lower trajectory.
Suggested retail price for both versions is $58 per dozen. The balls are also available in three-ball sleeves. For more info, go to www.titleist.com.
