Colson goes low and wins

Nathan Colson shot an 8-under-par 64 Tuesday during the second round of the Wisconsin State Golf Association Director's Cup and beat first-round leader Miles McConnell by three shots.

Colson, who plays out of The Bog in Saukville, shot an even-par 72 in the first round to finish at 136. McConnell, who plays out of Odana Hills GC in Madison, closed with a 72 after shooting 67 in the first round.

Jim Doing of Hawks Landing GC in Verona and Kevin Van Rossum of Naga-Waukee GC in Pewaukee tied for third at 3-under 141. Jonathan Fall, the 2008 champion, tied for 11th (72-76–148).

The Director’s Cup is an annual mid-amateur tournament for players 25 and over.
