INSTRUCTION
The Oaks GC in Cottage Grove has added another instructor to its list of teaching pros.
Pat Gorman, a two-time Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year, opened the Pat Gorman Academy on March 19 and became the director of instruction at The Oaks. Gorman comes to The Oaks after nearly 10 years as director of instruction and membership sales at Madison’s Cherokee CC.
“The Oaks is just a great golf facility, and I’m very fortunate to be there,” Gorman said. He joins head golf pro, Shaun Finley; Class “A” golf pro and general manager, Jason Manke; assistant pro, J.D. Wrasse; and instructor, Ben Scott.
Gorman gives lessons to all players, from beginner to pro, and said he’s committed to making people better at the game so they enjoy it more and play more often. Lately, he has focused on prepping middle school players for high school golf and high school players for college golf.
Gorman, a former head instructor of the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy, will also offer his golf academies this summer at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells and at the Legend at Bergamont in Oregon, which is under new ownership.
