New Evans Scholars from Wisconsin announced

The Evans Scholars Foundation announced this week 14 new scholarship recipients from Wisconsin. All 14 will begin school in September with Chick Evans Caddie Scholarships at the University of Wisconsin, which cover tuition and housing. The scholarships are renewable for up to four years.

The foundation also operates an Evans Scholars house on the Marquette University campus in Milwaukee and at more than a dozen other universities across the United States. The caddie scholarship program is overseen by the Western Golf Association, headquartered in Golf, Ill. Scholarship funding comes from individual donations and proceeds from the BMW Championship, a PGA Tour playoff event.

The 14 new scholars, listed below, were selected based on a strong caddie record, academics, financial need and outstanding character.

“These young men and women have excelled in academics and in service to their schools and communities,” said John Kaczkowski, president and CEO of the Western Golf Association and the Evans Scholars Foundation, and a UW graduate. “We welcome them to the Evans Scholars family and look forward to their continued success as college students.”

There are currently 865 caddies enrolled in colleges in the U.S. as part of the program, including 62 at the Evans Scholars house on the University of Wisconsin campus. More than 9,000 caddies have graduated from college thanks to the foundation, which was established in 1930 by legendary Chicago amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans.
