Maxfli, a division of TaylorMade-adidas Golf, introduces a new three-piece ball called Maxfli Fire, which the manufacturer promises will deliver “blazing ball speed for exceptional distanc e with soft feel and outstanding greenside performance.” The new ball will have a suggested retail price of $20 a dozen, which the company says is about $5 less than most competitive three-piece balls.
The secret to the ball’s performance, says the company, is its HPF 1000 SpeedMantle, which, in conjuction with a high-energy core raises the balls coefficient of resistance (COR) to .815. That is 7 percent faster than the mantle materials used in most competitive balls, the company says, yet with a 24 percent softer feel.
“Add it up and the answer is clear,” says Bill Price, Maxfli’s director of marketing, “Maxfli Fire is destined to be one of the hottest new balls on the market.”
The ball is available at retail outlets now.
