WISCONSIN STATE AMATEUR
Kretz takes over

The 107th Wisconsin State Amateur is proving to be a battle of the state’s college players. After three rounds of play at Old Hickory CC in Beaver Dam, Marquette University sophomore-to-be Kelly Kretz holds a one-stroke lead over the University of Wisconsin’s Danny Zimmerman.

Kretz, who plays out of Riverview GC in Antigo, on Wednesday recorded a 3-under-par 69 to move into the lead at 6-under 210. Zimmerman, who led after the first round and was tied for the lead after two rounds, shot 73. Racine’s Ben Bendtsen III was third at 3-under 213, UW junior-to-be Jordan Elsen was fourth at 2-under 214 and Milwaukee's Dave Foley was fifth at 1-under 215.

The final round of play currently is underway and should wrap up this afternoon. Visit www.wsga.org for current scoring.
