Jim Thomas, the popular head professional at Bridges GC in Madison, was found dead at his home in Middleton on Tuesday evening. No cause of death has yet been announced.
Thomas, 43, had worked at Bridges GC since the course opened in 2000, and he also coached the golf team at Madison Area Technical College for the last eight years. He was a Class A member of the PGA of America.
"We lost a great friend and member of our MATC athletics family,” said MATC athletics director Steve Hauser in a statement posted on the school’s Web site. “I cannot express how saddened we are about Jim's death. Coach Thomas was a wonderful coach and mentor to the student-athletes that he worked with. We will miss him a great deal.”
