Eichstedt in position for a repeat

Defending champion Clark Eichstedt is tied for first with Scot Samelstad after the round one of the Wisconsin State Senior Open.

Eichstedt, a non-affiliated professional from Kewaskum, and Samelstad, who lives in Roberts, finished at even-par 72. Eichstedt had a steady round with two birdies and two bogeys, while Samelstad made six birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey. Amateurs Mark Bemowski, Mike Hilton, Paul Schwarz, Brent Wong and professionals Steve Krause and Richard Tock are tied for third at 73.

The 2008 Wisconsin State Senior Open is being held at The Racine CC, the same course where last week’s Wisconsin State Golf Association Senior Amateur was played. The final round got underway at 8 a.m. today.
