Brown County GC in Oneida

One of Wisconsin’s fine municipal layouts, Brown County GC has been a Green Bay-area favorite since it opened in 1957. The course is located in Oneida and is operated by Brown County.

The par-72 course, designed by Lawrence Packard, measures 6,749 yards from the back tees and plays through a park-like setting with forest-lined fairways that in many instances are quite narrow. Duck Creek also flows through the property and makes its presence known to golfers.

Brown County has a reputation for being in great shape year-round, despite the heavy traffic it gets from local players. The Wisconsin State Golf Association has also visited plenty in recent years, as Brown County has hosted the 2005 Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, the 2002 State Match Play and the 1999 State Junior.

Brown County, which for years has had a vibrant and popular men’s club, seems to place an emphasis on iron play and the short game. That is particularly true on several doglegged par-4 holes, as it has been said that the key to success for better players is the ability to hook the ball on the front nine and fade it on the back.

Before or after golf, make time to visit the Safari Steakhouse located in the Brown County clubhouse.
